A few years ago we were visiting the Gambia as tourists. As soon as we were outside our hotel we were face to face with one of the poorest country on earth.
· medical help is very small - the death-rate for children is 138 on 1000
· each doctor has to take care of 15.000 human beings
· there is one dentist for 135.000 peo
· in most families the help of children at home is indispensable
· the classpopulation is between 45 and 90 pupils in one class
· in nursery schools teachers are working voluntary

Since 2000 we are working on different projects in favour of local schools and clinics, thanks to the help of our local coordinator M. Lamin Touray
